In a lane of Shijo-Omiya, there is a single quiet heart. Here you'll find a large communal bath that loosens the fatigue of travel, a sauna where you settle back into yourself, and guest rooms wrapped in Japanese design.

Someone taking a deep breath midway through their journey. Someone easing into a lobby chair. Someone drying their hair after a bath, thinking of tomorrow.

One minute from the station, just off the street, a place has come to be where the mind can loosen. Standing quietly among Kyoto's slopes and lanes, you feel your shoulders drop, almost without noticing. That extension of everyday life is here.

A Day in the Life

Step into a lane of Shijo-Omiya, and the bustle of the shopping street gradually recedes. After checking in, set your bag down in the room and take a breath — light through the shoji screens softly fills the space, and the pace of travel eases.

At dusk, to the communal bath. Let the day's journey loosen in a tub wrapped in the texture of stone and wood, then sweat it out slowly in the sauna. The night breeze through the lane feels just right against skin still warm from the bath.

Follow the shopping street's lights to a nearby spot for dinner, then return to the room, where a quiet night deepens amid Japanese design.

The next morning, one more visit to the communal bath to get ready, and by the time you return your key at the front desk, the mere one-minute walk to the station feels faintly bittersweet. Next time you visit, this lane will surely welcome you with the same stillness.

Bath/Sauna

(01)Large Communal Bath

"At day's end, to the bath."
Amid a setting reminiscent of a Kyoto machiya townhouse, the hotel offers a spacious communal bath. Steam quietly fills a bathroom built around the texture of stone and wood.
A time to stretch legs tired from a day of sightseeing and settle into the tub. A quiet but essential way to close the day on your travels. Take a breath away from the bustle of Shijo-Omiya, and slowly let your body unwind.

(02)Sauna

"Settle back into yourself, in the quiet."
In a sauna room wrapped in the scent of wood, sweat out the fatigue of travel at your own pace. A minimal space, away from outside noise, where time moves on your own terms.
True to a hotel where Kyoto's old streets and modern comfort coexist, this is a place where tradition and comfort breathe together. Move between the bath and the sauna, and slowly settle body and mind.

Japanese Design

Light filtering through shoji screens. Quiet, Kyoto-inflected details are woven throughout the hotel. Nothing showy, yet each catches the eye and quietly eases the mind.
Although newly built, we wanted to honor the Japanese atmosphere this town has carried for generations. With that in mind, we kept the texture of materials like wood, tatami, and washi paper throughout the guest rooms and shared spaces.

About a one-minute walk from Hankyu Kyoto Line "Omiya" Station (Exit 2A), and about a one-minute walk from Keifuku Arashiyama Main Line "Shijo-Omiya" Station. From JR Kyoto Station, please take Kyoto City Bus route 206 or 26.

The location also offers excellent access to the sightseeing spots of western Kyoto, including Arashiyama, Sagano, Myoshin-ji, Ninna-ji, and Ryoan-ji. Arashiyama, known for the Togetsukyo Bridge and the Katsura River, is one of Kyoto's foremost scenic spots, drawing visitors in every season. Beyond it lies Sagano, where a bamboo grove path winds through a quiet, pastoral landscape well suited to a peaceful stroll. Myoshin-ji, the head temple of the Myoshinji school of Rinzai Zen Buddhism, holds numerous subtemples known as tacchu within its vast grounds. Ninna-ji, founded in 888 as the head temple of the Omuro school of Shingon Buddhism, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site also known for its late-blooming Omuro cherry trees. Ryoan-ji, world-renowned for its rock garden (karesansui, a dry landscape garden), is another temple well worth visiting.

Even from this convenient spot facing the Shijo-Omiya shopping street, reaching these landmarks by a single train ride is one of this hotel's particular charms.
