Shijo-Omiya, a town alive with lanes and a shopping street
This area, where Hankyu Omiya Station and Randen Shijo-Omiya Station meet, is a shopping-street town where the rhythm of Kyoto life carries on unchanged. Step into a lane, and you'll find old machiya townhouses, small coffee shops, and shrines scattered about — a scene of local, everyday life quite different from the usual sightseeing spots.
We hoped visitors, too, might touch this town's daily rhythm, if only briefly. This hotel was born from that wish.
On the name CUORE
CUORE is an Italian word meaning "heart." The Shijo-Omiya shopping street is less a sightseeing spot than a place where the daily life of local residents carries on — the voices of shoppers, a bicycle bell, the scent of dusk. We built this hotel in a lane where these small signs of everyday life are close at hand. We wanted travelers, too, to feel as though they were living in this town, if only briefly. That is why we chose the name CUORE.
Opened in 2022, this hotel layers Japanese design over modern comfort, letting a large communal bath and sauna quietly settle the day's end. Light through shoji screens; stillness beyond the steam. Picture, here, the moment your traveling heart begins to loosen, amid the same atmosphere as a Kyoto lane.
